  • How do the classes differ from the workshops? The mosaic classes & installation classes are ongoing and project based. There is no start or finish date. You pick the project and dates that make sense for you. The mosaic weekend workshops are just that...an entire project completed in one weekend and the mosaic seminar is a one day intensive where you learn everything about mosaic but don't create anything.

What do you mean by flexible schedule?

We offer 5 sessions per week Tuesday through Saturday. When you book a class with us you choose your project and your dates. One week it could be a Tuesday the next a Friday, skip a week for vacation and do a double on the following Saturday. Our only rules are     that classes MUST be booked (there is no drop in as the studio is small) and should you be unable to attend one of your booked classes you give us 24 hours notice or we will charge you for the missed class.

    What tools do I need?

Initially, none! We think that you should be able to try a new craft without having to purchase all of the tools required. However, once you know you love mosaic and want to continue either at home or in the open studio we sell a very cost effective kit to get you going.

What do I do with my mosaic piece between classes?

We store all of your pieces here at the store until they are completed.

Can I come and work on a mosaic of my own at the studio?

We do offer "open studio" to students who have completed at least one project at Mosaic Beach Studio. This ensures that our past students and present students are all working from the same knowledge base.

Can I start a project and then take it home to work on it?

As we provide all of the materials, glues & grouts as well as the use of the tools we prefer that you work on your project at the studio.  If you wish to work at home we can help you buy the right base, tools and materials to enable you to mosaic at home.

Do I have to be able to draw to mosaic?

Nope! That is why we love carbon paper.  Designs are easily transfered to your base and you just "fill' them in with mosaic tile.  Creativity comes easy in mosaic!

Do you provide us with the design?

We do not force you into any sort of design but we do have many books with design ideas if you don't already have one. We are here to help you choose something you will like but that hopefully won't make you crazy!!  If in doubt email us your idea and we'll let you know how hard we think it is.

Can I work on a really complicated design?

Of course! We only include a certain number of classes as it is REALLY tough to figure out how long each person will take with their project. Mosaic speed is highly individual. So, choose whatever design you prefer and simply purchase additional classes at $20 each (for a 2 1/2 hour session),  $85 for 5 or $150 for 10.

    When do my classes expire?

Mosaic classes and open studio packages all expire after 6 months of inactivity.

    What happens to abandoned projects?

After 6 months of inactivity (or lack of contact) your classes expire and your piece is disposed of.

    Can children attend?

Kids 10 or over are welcome to the classes and workshops at the same rate as adults.
